I'm an Arizona Valentine!

This image was recently selected as one of sixty artworks (out of 572) to be included in the "Arizona Valentine" exhibit to be held at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Art Museum, Terminal 3, Level 2 from November 12, 2011 through June 17, 2012. I am not sure if there will be an opening reception, but as soon as I find out I will post that information.

This image is from an 8x10" negative. I have contact printed it as well as had a 40x32" pigment ink print made of it. The silver gelatin contact print will be on exhibit at the Airport Museum.

Efros/Kitts/Hojnacki Exhibit at ASU Library

On December 4, 2009 I attended the opening of a photography exhibit by friends Randy Efros, John Kitts and Matt Hojnacki at the ASU Library located at 411 N. Central Ave., Phoenix, AZ.

Many of our Phoenix-area photo community friends attended this expansive show. 64 images were shown between the three artists. The quality of the work was very high. These three artists have been photographing for over 60 years collectively. The show continued through January 31, 2010.

My gallery talk at the Phoenix Country Day School exhibit was today. I enjoyed talking with the students, faculty and parents that attended. I have been invited back to do a Photoshop talk next semester with the Advanced Photo students.

Solo show at Phoenix Country Day School

I was recently asked to hang a show of my work at my daughter's school, Phoenix Country Day School, in Paradise Valley, AZ, by Michael Pesselato, Art Department head. The exhibit is part of the school's "cultural enrichment" program, where they bring in local writers, artists, and musicians, to expose the students to their work, and hopefully inspire them. I am honored to be the first visual artist in this series. They recently had a professional jazz trio from the Red Rocks Music Festival perform with my daughter's Jazz Combo at lunchtime. The performance was well received and very enjoyable, as well as a learning experience for the band. A brief video is available here, featuring Lindsay on the vibraphone.

The show features 32 images ranging from 1981 to 2009 and from New Jersey, Canada, California and Arizona. I am also giving an artist's talk on Thursday, Dec. 3 at 2:10 in the Hormel Art Center.
